The concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the maestro was held on November 4, National Unity Day, in the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
The fate of David Mnatsakanyan is a happy interweaving of music and diplomacy. In his youth, he graduated as a violinist from the Tchaikovsky Music School at the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory. For some time, he worked in the Armenian Symphony Orchestra of Television and Radio.
Then Mr. Mnatsakanyan went to Moscow, where he graduated with honors from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. For over 40 years, he served as a diplomat in Berlin, Vienna, Bonn, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Gothenburg.
David Vazgenovich discovered his talent as a composer at the age of 58.
On November 4, the Rachmaninov Academic Symphony Orchestra performed works by David Mnatsakanyan: instrumental works for symphony orchestra My way and Christmas Fantasy, Concerto for piano and orchestra, and others. The author’s melodies played during the World Championships in Gothenburg in 2008 and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The Swedish figure skating champion performed his routine to the music of David Mnatsakanyan.
