Switzerland: one foundation per 650 residents

Istoki Endowment Fund presents review of the Swiss philanthropy

What country do you think has the highest concentration of charitable foundations per capita? USA? Germany? No. The leader is Switzerland: there are 13,169 charitable foundations and 8.5 million citizens in the country (one foundation for every 650 people). This is six times more than in Germany or the USA.

You can find more in the report on Swiss charitable foundations for year 2018 published by the SwissFoundations and Centre d’Etudes de la Philanthropie en Suisse. The report presents current indicators, facts and trends in the development of the sector both in Switzerland and globally.
